Director – Collections and Research, Otago Museum

The Otago Museum is embarking on a new strategic direction with a renewed emphasis on collection development and care. We are seeking an experienced museum professional to join the senior management team as Director – Collections and Research.

The Director – Collections and Research will lead our conservation, collection management and curatorial staff, directing collection interpretation, preservation, conservation, storage and movement. They will inspire staff and lead by example in curatorial practice and research, supporting Museum staff in the provision of world-class displays, events and other activities.

Creativity, flexibility and an ability to operate at a strategic level will be key attributes. Strong organisational skills and attention to detail are critical, along with vision, the ability to think innovatively and to ‘make things happen’ in a busy and dynamic environment.
