In our conference report, we told you that we are very pleased to have seconded Dr. Osamu Kamei to the Board of ICOM NATHIST. He adds a great deal to our work. Read his profile and visit the Website of his institution the Center of the History of Japanese Industrial Technology at the National Museum of Nature and Science in Tokyo, by going to the “About” section of this website.
We were first privileged to hear Osamu speak in 2013 at the General Conference in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. With little time for preparation, he gave a very interesting talk Natural History Museum Materials as Cultural Assets about the 2011 earthquake in Japan, its effects on natural history museums there, and the response from both colleagues and the government. You can read a post about this talk at this link and a report of the entire 2013 conference report at this link. We look forward to working with him.
